The day that did not go Right.
OK we woke up early thinking of catching train to Glasgow. Got a taxi to train station and checked out tickets and they were £500 and no guarantee of seats. Well that was not happening. So quickly called Enterprise and they had a car so now we are driving to Glasgow. Not bad, but Kirk will never get his talk written and I will be on navigation duty for six hours. Definite marriage counsellor will be needed by the time we get to Glasgow.
The car was not ready for an hour so we got on public transport to Enterprise and found a coffee shop. It was McDonalds, I haven’t had a breakfast sandwich for ages so why not try one. Walk into the place and it is all computerised. I asked all the kindly Brits, how does this work, as I do not want to mess with all of your ques. The Brits are known for their queuing , (Dunkirk)
One gentlemen was very kind and directed me through the ordering and then we went and sat down to be served.
We just happened to sit next to what I thought were the writers of the Big Bang Theory. These 4 guys were talking about how it would be great if Sheldon and company had to deal with their super hero’s being attacted with their anti superhero power, like the Hulk being calmed down, Spider-Man being de spidered and how they would act. It was a great/funny conversation and I could not help but asking them if they were writers for the Big Bang. They claimed they were just idiots and genius. And I told them as long as you are passionate about being an idiot that is perfect.
Best thing that ever happened to me at a McDonalds! As you will see when we near the end of the day. Best entertainment I have had in a long time.
We rented a car and started our drive, long and loads of liquid sunshine and round abouts as we made our way north. Picked up a hitchhiker headed toward Lake District. Hard to believe I saw a hitchhiker in Britan, they just do not exist. Come to find out he was a Physics student.
Made it to Glasgow without many more interruptions and got to the Air B&B, it was about 6:30. Seemed a little schetchy at first because no one meet us. So I read the instructions and sorted it out that I had to get key from lock box. Then the keys did not work. So after we fiddled around a bit, I texted the owners and they sent Abdul, he had the same problem so said he would have to get a locksmith.
So we headed off to one of the best dinners we have ever had. Jumbo was a 20 minute walk away and had a fantastic dinner. Jumbolaya, mac and cheese, deep fried avocado, deep fried cheese cake. And the best red wine I have ever tasted. Recchia Bardonino from Venetian, Italy - races but light red, Marvelous;) Live jazz tomorrow night so we are coming back!

About 10:30 we got a txt from Abdul, all is good! So we headed back to the Air B&B.
Long day, got back to the flat. The door thankfully opened and I fell into bed after taking care of the McDonalds breakfast, yuck! Made it. Beautiful view of the city but I was too tired to care.
Woke up to a semi clear or liquid sunshine and more sunshine than liquid. I decided to head out and take advantage of the clear skies and go see the necropolis.
They call this the Cemetery of the Dead. That is an oxymoron if I have ever heard of one. It was very impressive, the gravestones got taller and more massive as you climbed the hill.
The view from the top overlooked the whole city. And was surrounded by every religious building, catherdarals, masque, churches...
Visited downtown Glasgow
Then off to the Science Center.
Great hands on museum for kids and big kids. They had a fabulous LN2 demo, took lots of notes.
Along the river, on the way to science museum.
Then took a ride to up the nano elevator to the space station! What a view of earth I had. And I lost so many pounds. My arthritis improved felt like I was walking on air. I never want to come home.
Did not see much rain and was not too cold. Had a another great dinner at Elenas Tapas Bar. Tasted delicious! Deep tried cheese cake! Thought I was back in Indiana at the state fair.
Wonderful trip to Glasgow.
One last stop to a coffee shop hole in the wall near the University of Glasgow. Had our coffee on an old prison/goal door. If this door could talk.
