Rowdy and Windy Liverpool

Big rats down at the waterfront Liverpool

The Pumphouse down on the Docks

Arrived late to Liverpool as traffic and rush hour slowed us down. Being a Monday night  I did not think it should be so busy. We pulled into the parking lot and noticed many black vans and men dressed in black roaming the streets everywhere. Felt a little creepy.

We checked into the Adelphi, an old 20’s hotel that needs help but has a lot of character. Rooms have 18 foot ceilings, crown moulding and very abused carpet. You could tell in its day it was stunning. The old sign posted above the check in had prices of £250 a night, not the case now.

To tired to go out so Kirk went to the liquor store across the street and an all night gyros shop to get take away.

Found a great coffee house 93 Degrees next to the University that had great coffee and comfy seats.

Kirk went off to meetings and I headed back down to the Adelphi and some shopping. As I got closer to the Hotel there seemed to be a lot of people in black milling around and yelling at each other. Finally I asked a Bobbi what was all the fuss about and was it safe?  He said no problem just a football game. That explained a lot. The ticket pick up place was at the Adelphi so both teams french and Liverpool picked their tickets up at the hotel. So it was craziness. Liverpool won.

I caught a hop on hop off so I could avoid the roadies. Got to see all the highlights.

Busy day sight seeing. Time to head home. A surprising two days of sunshine in the north. We had beautiful weather.

England has been a very enlightening adventure. Come to find out that it has a better quality of living than the US. This is mainly due to the many issues.

Health Care - Most important is the health, you do not need to worry about paper work, where to go, how much it will cost or if you will go bankrupt trying to get better at you need to concern yourself with is getting better. And civilized country should work like this.

Taxes - they maybe high but no higher than what you pay for taxes and health care in the states. And you are fully covered. And no filing. It is automatic unless you are self employed.

Holidays - you get 38 days holiday a year. The EU seems to really concerned about your mental health and quality of life and they show it with the number of holidays you get. 38 not including flex time which can ad up to more.

Education - The education system does not bankrupt people to have their kids go to college and has an advanced apprentice program to get kids involved in engineering and science early on if they are so inclined. Because of the expense of education in the states most people will never be able to retire if they help their children with the cost of school. Or the kids will have such an extraordinary debt when they leave college they will never be able to pay it off.

Guns- Less of a chance that your neighbor will come out blasting and shoot everyone with a machine gun or any gun for that matter. Less guns less people die of gun shots. US is a scary place to live.

It seems that the EU is much better place for anyone to live in and safer.  They take care of the population much better than the US and keep them safer.

If you do not keep your population healthy, educated and alive you are a third world country.                                                            The US really needs help.
